Self-serve sign-in test accounts
Testing an OAuth client end to end used to need a sign-in test account that Layout set up for you by email. Your own Layout account places real orders, and the test accounts you provision cannot sign in. Now you create one yourself in the console.
What changed
- The OAuth clients page has a Sign-in test accounts section. New test account gives you a reserved
+1 500 555phone number and a six-digit sign-in code, shown once. - The account is sandbox for its whole life. Its confirms answer
"simulated": true: no restaurant, no card, no charge, and nothing is ever texted to its number. - It connects only to the OAuth clients of the application that created it, before your application is approved. Other developers cannot see or use it.
- You can hold 10 at a time across your applications. Deleting one ends its connections at once.
Why it matters
You can now walk the whole flow a person takes through your client, from consent to a placed order and its webhooks, without waiting on Layout and without spending money.
What to do
Create an account, start your authorization as usual, and sign in on the consent screen with its number and code. See Sign-in test accounts.
