Request production in the console
Moving an application from sandbox to production now starts in the console. Open App details and choose Request production. A full-screen form asks a few questions, one at a time, and sends them to a person at Layout for review. Anything you gave us at sign-up arrives filled in.
What changed
- The request is a form. It asks for your app's name and logo, your developer name and legal entity, your website, a one-line subtitle (30 characters at most), a description, a category, your privacy policy, terms of service and support contact, how people approve an order in your app, and the person Layout should contact. Each screen saves as you go.
- It writes your marketplace listing. Approved apps appear in the Layout connector marketplace in the Layout app, under their category, with the subtitle, description and links from the form. Listing is on by default, and you can turn it off on the last screen. We still need the details to review your app.
- Reviews come back by email. You get an email when you submit. If Layout declines, the email and the console say why, and Edit and resubmit sends it again. Approval still emails you as before.
- Approved apps can edit their listing. On an approved app the button reads Edit listing. Listing changes go live straight away. Renaming the app still sends it back to review.
- The CLI points to the console.
layout request-live-accessno longer files a request. For an app that is not approved it exits withrequest_in_consoleand the console link inerror.requestUrl. A live call from an unapproved app answersnot_approvedwith the same link.
Why it matters
A production review asks about your company, your policies and what people will see, which is a person's answer to give. The form keeps it in one place, fills in what we already know, and turns the same answers into your listing, so people can find your app in the Layout app.
What to do
If your app is waiting on review, open App details and submit the form. Apps approved before today keep their listing; add a subtitle, description and category from Edit listing so it reads well. Coding agents that ran layout request-live-access should hand the requestUrl to their person.
Breaking changes
layout request-live-access exits non-zero with request_in_console for an app that is not approved, where it used to answer requested. Nothing else about sandbox or production changes.
