# The Layout CLI

October 2, 2026 · Console

The Layout CLI signs in to your developer account with a code you approve in the console, then works in sandbox from your terminal. It never touches production.

## What changed

- `layout login` prints a code and opens the console's new [CLI](https://developer.layout.link/console/cli) page, where you check the code and approve it. The session lasts 30 days.
- `layout apps create` and `layout keys create` make an application and a sandbox key.
- `layout listen` forwards sandbox webhook events to a local URL, signed like real ones. `layout trigger` fires a test event.
- `layout test-order` runs a whole sandbox order at a test restaurant and prints each step.
- Every command takes `--json` and exits with a stable code, so a coding agent can drive it.
- The console's CLI page lists every signed-in CLI, each with **Revoke**.

## Why it matters

You, or an agent working in your repository, can go from nothing to a tested sandbox integration without opening the console more than once.

## What to do

Ask [developer@layout.link](mailto:developer@layout.link) for access, then run `layout login`. A CLI token cannot create live keys, read live secrets, change production settings or move money. See [Layout CLI](https://developer.layout.link/reference/cli) and [what a CLI token can do](https://developer.layout.link/reference/cli#security).

## Breaking changes

None.
