# Disconnect a person with DELETE

`DELETE /v1/users/:id` is open to every application, with its secret key.

Every build grant for the person stops working at once, and their standing agreement that your application places orders for them ends. Their Layout account, cards and orders stay theirs and are not deleted. Repeating the call answers the same. Provisioning the same number again later gives the same `id` back as a new invitation, and the person verifies again.

## Why it matters

When a person leaves your product, you can cut your application's access to them yourself, without asking them to disconnect you in Layout.
